develop responsible, active and empowered leaders while promoting
positive communication and learning skills for tomorrow's youth with
developmental disabilities.
Who we are:
The
Youth LEAD Youth Congress is the advisory council for the Youth LEAD
grant. The Youth Congress provides input and consumer advice for all
Youth LEAD programming:
- Urban Leadership Academy
- Youth LEAD Web (online resource center)
- Capacity-building workshops for youth-serving organizations
Who serves on the Youth Congress?
- Youth with disabilities ages 14-17
- Emerging leaders with disabilities ages 18-30
- Family members
- Community partner organizations
What we do: - Work as a group on a strategic plan
- Help monitor the strategic plan
- Help recruit youth and emerging leaders with developmental disabilities
- Recommend youth-friendly leadership materials
- Review materials to assure they are youth-friendly
- Forge connections between project initiatives and existing organizations/groups
- Help find ways to keep Youth LEAD going
