Mission Statement:

To develop responsible, active and empowered leaders while promoting positive communication and learning skills for tomorrow's youth with developmental disabilities.

Who we are:

The Youth LEAD Youth Congress is the advisory council for the Youth LEAD grant. The Youth Congress provides input and consumer advice for all Youth LEAD programming:
  • Urban Leadership Academy
  • Youth LEAD Web (online resource center)
  • Capacity-building workshops for youth-serving organizations
  • You can find more results of our work in smal videos which are show at a inflatable screen in a park or any other public place.

Who serves on the Youth Congress?

  • Youth with disabilities ages 14-17
  • Emerging leaders with disabilities ages 18-30
  • Family members
  • Community partner organizations

What we do:

  • Work as a group on a strategic plan
  • Help monitor the strategic plan
  • Help recruit youth and emerging leaders with developmental disabilities
  • Recommend youth-friendly leadership materials
  • Review materials to assure they are youth-friendly
  • Forge connections between project initiatives and existing organizations/groups
  • Help find ways to keep Youth LEAD going
